U-QUIT I-QUIT campaign with Cipla

Since smoking is one of the major causes of heart disease, BHB in association with Ciplacarried out an on-ground campaign “U-Quit I-Quit”in Mumbai and Bangalore at the Phoenix mall to spread awareness about heart disease on World Heart Day, 29 September 2016.The event includedvarious activities such as: Health check-up, One on one counselling with expert, Distribution of BHB collateral related to heart health, Heart Quiz, Distribution of free Nicotex samples by Cipla. The event was also supported by BIG FM, as a radio partner to help create awareness.
World Heart Day event with NCC
29th September, 2016
On the occasion of World heart day like each year, BHB conducted a Basic Life Support Demo for over 1400 cadets of NCC at the Delhi camp, on 29 September 2016. The demo was conducted by an emergency doctor of Apollo Hospitals. It was followed by a pledge taking ceremony where all the cadets pledged to keep their heart healthy by following the Simple 5 Solutions. BHB also distributed refreshments for all the cadets post the session.

Yoga and Nutrition Workshops at IOCL

Celebrating World heart day at an IOCL event, BHB organized a Yoga session and Nutrition Talk for the employees of IOCL on 16 and 17 September at the IOCL campus in Gurugram. The sessions were followed by one-on-one interaction with the Yoga expert and Nutritionist. BHB also displayedinformative posters and shared collateral on heart health with the employees.

On 1st August, 2016, BHB organised a health talk with the women community at the Delhi Commonwealth Women’s Association Medical Center – DCWA. Dietitian Vartika Singhal from Apollo Life talked about the risks & types of heart ailments & on many other useful topics related to nutrition followed by Q&A sessions. Useful cooking tips were given to them also.
Poster Making Competition – World No Tobacco Day

To highlight the health risks associated with Tobacco use, Poster making competition was organised by Billion Hearts Beating on the occasion of “World No Tobacco Day”. The competition was held on 31st Of May, 2016.
Also, the children at NGO Aarohan performed a Street Play (Nukkad natak) on the harmful effects of tobacco and other drugs, encouraging the audience to Say No to Tobacco and Drugs.
Poster Making Competition – World No Tobacco Day

To highlight the health risks associated with Tobacco use, Poster making competition was organised by Billion Hearts Beating on the occasion of “World No Tobacco Day”. The competition was held on 30th Of May, 2016.
Around 70 students from Kamal Loachan Society, Govindpuri participated in the competition designing creative and informative posters. At the end of the poster making, the best paintings were awarded with prizes.

Basic Life Support Demo: NCC Cantonment, New Delhi

BHB organized a two hour event on 29th September, 2014 at NCC Cantonment, New Delhi. Dr. Azhruddin and Dr. Reshma Singh conducted a basic life support demo for 1600 cadets which included Resuscitation(with practical on mannequin), Heart Massaging and a BLS presentation. Other highlights of the event were a cultural program, Pledge-Taking for all 1600 cadets and exciting giveaway for the cadets and refreshments.
BLS & First Aid Training: World bank
28- 29 September, 2015
As a part of World heart day celebrations, BHB organized a Basic life Support and First aid Training for the employees of World Bank in New Delhi, on 28 & 29 September, 2015. The training was conducted by a certified trainer from Apollo Emergency Team. At the end of the training, each employee was provided with a certificate.
BLS Demo: AIESEC

BHB organized a Basic life support demo at AIESEC’s Regional Youth Leadership Conference in Gurgaon, on 12 September 2015. The demo, followed by a question answer session, educated more than 300 AIESEC members present at the bi-annual conference from all across the country.
World Heart Day activity: Flipkart
Message: Sitting is the New Smoking
Sitting for more than 6 hours a day is equivalent to smoking more than one pack of cigarettes. To spread awareness on the harmful effects of sedentary lifestyles and sitting for too long at the workplace, BHB wrapped a special ribbon on the chairs of over 5000 employees. The message read- “Sitting is the New Smoking’’.
Collaterals were also placed around the selected offices to explain the message further.
An Apollo heart check was conducted for Flipkart employees as well.
BLS Demo: NCC
28 September, 2015
Like every year, BHB conducted a basic life support demo for 1300-1400 cadets at the DelhiNCC camp in Dwarka, on 28th September 2015. The demo was conducted by a certified trainer and a pledge taking ceremony was conducted where all the cadets pledged to take care of their hearts. Post the session, BHB also provided refreshments to all the cadets.
World Heart Day
BHB collaborated with ICICI Bank during the month of September through newsletter. Awareness on heart health was built through a newsletter, web banners and daily health tips. Discounted health checks are also being offered in all cities for ICICI customers till December 31st, 2015
BHB in association with Apollo hospitals also conducted an interactive session with a cardiologist in Mumbai which was broadcasted to 70,000 employees of ICICI.
Walkathon: DU with AIESEC

On the occasion of International Youth day, BHB organized a walkathon at Delhi University in association with AIESEC on 12th August, 2015. The walkathon was conducted in North campus to promotephysical activity & healthy lifestyleamongst the youth. Membersfrom AIESEC and students from Delhi University joined the walk in support of the cause. Postthe walk, students participated in physical activity competition- ‘Get Active’, where BHB awarded T-Shirts & giveaways to the winners.

Billion Hearts Beating in association with Apollo Hospitals participated in International Yoga Day On 21st June, 2015. BHB distributed Yoga leaflets and put up posts on LCD screens at Apollo hospital in New Delhi. BHB also organized a quiz in the yoga session conducted for Apollo Delhi employees and distributed BHB T-shirts to the winners.

BHB organised an anti smoking drive at the delhi university metro station where the passer bys were asked to take a pledge, Every person who plans to quit smoking or support the campaign was asked to burst a balloon and share their experience with the BHB team as a testimonial.
BLS & First aid Training: Kamptee Camp

BHB conducted basic life support training for 145 traniers which included Resuscitation(with practical on mannequin), Heart Massaging and a BLS presentation. It was a two day programme held on 17th July 2014 at Kamptee and other than certified CPR training, sessions on first aid were also given to the NCC trainers. BHB aims to educate and train the cadets in providing first aid and making them aware about the mission of BHB.

BHB has educated and trained cadets in providing first aid and making them aware about the mission of BHB. 600 NCC cadets were given basic life support training at Bengaluru 23-25 Oct 2013.
BHB@Work: Indian Oil Corporation
In 2013, BHB organized a Heart healthy workshop for the employees of Indian Oil Corporation Limited in Panipat. The workshop addressed the key risk factors associated with heart disease and showcased heart health information in a fun and engaging manner. A wellness expert conducted an interactive session that included a health talk, a Q & A session and a surprise fun activity based around the simple 5 solutions.
Post the session, BHB also conducted complimentary health checks in association with Indraprastha Apollo hospitals, which included Body Mass Index (BMI), Blood pressure (BP), Blood Sugar and consultations with a general physician and a dietician.
BHB conducted the pilot workshop at the Benetton Corporate Office from 30th May to 1st June, 2012. The workshop addressed the 5 most important aspects of heart health amongst the employees- Getting Active, Eating Healthy, Quitting smoking, Managing Stress and Getting regular Heart Checks. The program had a successful culmination with high participation from the Benetton employees interacting with the experts that were conducting each segment.
Dil Ki Daud: Mrathon
7th October, 2012
Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals in association with the Billion Hearts Beating Foundation organised the 3rd Apollo Dil Ki Daud, a 5-km run against heart disease on Sunday, 7th October 2012. Around 2500 participants from various walks of life participated in the mini-marathon to encourage and motivate people to get more active and heart-healthy.
India’s first blade runner and Kargil War amputee hero Retd. Major Devender Pal Singh along with Former Wrestler of India, Satpal Singh and the famous Cricketer, Gurusharan Singh also participated in order to encourage the runners to live a heart-healthy life.
Members from nearby RWA’s, elderly citizens, Apollo Hospital staff and even school and college students participated in the event. Winners were presented with medals, while participants received certificates.
Marathon: Dil ki Daud

The Billion Hearts Billion foundation supported the mini-marathon organised by Apollo Hospitals. ‘Run for a healthier Heart’ was the motto of the marathon. It was held on 27th March 2011. Drawing on its sucess, the marathon was organised once again on 4th December 2011. the objective of the event was to help peopel take the first step towards better heart health.
